I attended the Federalism Symposium event, sponsored by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, provides the opportunity to gain a better understanding of American federalism, the relationship between local, state, and federal governments, and to learn best practices from American political leaders. Only the main stakeholders like Winning Party, MPs, Ethnic Armed Organization Leaders and government leaders were invited.
The program focus on increasing understanding of the division between state and federal legislative and administrative powers. The Symposium is for participants who already know the basic principles of federalism and want to explore the practical functions of shared/self-rule between state and federal government, how states exercise their devolved authorities from the federal government, and how state and local administrators can best administer policy.
This event is two days and I met many important people here, sitting down with ministers, talking with governors from US and so on. (The program, held in Nay Pyi Taw from 28-29 October-2018)
